Senior citizens hear about safe driving

Angela Smith from KRADD came last week and talked to us about safety in driving and showed us pictures about it. It was really interesting, and we learned some good ideas from it.

About 60 attended our Valentine party. Most of us dressed in our reds. The center was decorated beautifully with lots of drinks and good eats. We had meats, vegetables, salads, sweets galore, and even an ice cream cake.

Janice Forester won the table arrangement donated by Collins Florist. Sue Sexton won a vase of red roses donated by Messenger Florist. Yvonne Hammock and John Duty each won a $20 certificate donated by Pine Mountain Grill, and boxes of Valentine candy were given away, and Everett Joseph won a gift for being married the longest at 60 years.

Shirley Day took pictures of Charles and Lizzie Mae in their reds and red feathers around their necks. Everyone had a great time, and we’re getting ready for the next one.

I just received some very sad news. Ruford and Coleen Hart lost their son last week. He lived in North Carolina, and was 42 years old. Arrangements hadn’t yet been made at the time of this writing, but he will be brought back here.

Thanks to Letcher Funeral Home and the Campbell family for the nice card they sent us about our winning the Senior Citizens Award of the Year. We received it last Thursday. We really appreciated it.

Debbie Slone, our site manager’s mother-in-law, is in Whitesburg Hospital, very sick. I hope she’s better soon.

Senior citizens, come and visit us and see how we get along. You will enjoy it.

God bless until next time.
