Hello from Kingscreek.
It has been a while since I wrote, but life has been very busy.
This month at the center is keeping us all on the go. Tuesday, the 11th, a group from our center joined several centers in Hazard for a health fair. Those things can be very helpful. There is a lot of information available about a number of health issues.
The ones going to the health fair from Kingscreek were Judy Eldridge, Faye Herron, Sue Williams, Eulah Miller, Harold Day, Barbara Eldridge, Joni Fields, Cathy Ingram and myself.
We saw lots of old friends from other centers and made a few new ones. Lunch for us was Taco Bell (love that place).
Next Tuesday is our potluck. It is always the third Tuesday of the month. If any of you have time, come visit us. We love company. If you are 60 or older, join us on a regular basis. We always have something planned.
We are working on Halloween costumes now. Our party will be at the Blackey Center.
I’m writing this while waiting at the doctor’s office. Not sick, just a checkup and flu shot. I always get my flu shot. Don’t have time to be sick.
Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and my birth month, I always schedule my mammogram during October. If you haven’t gotten one, please check into it. It is very important.
We did our story-play at Mountain Heritage. It went well. People seem to enjoy it and really connect with some of the stories. Cowan Community Center is hoping we can do more of them. If you have stories, and I know you do, please come tell them to us. I will keep you posted on when we will have more storytelling.
Time is running out to get this to the paper so I’ll stop for now.
Keep your neighbors in your heart and watch out for each other. We are all in this together.
So long until next week.
