Hello to everyone from all of us at the Ermine Center. We sure have had a busy month at our center.

We went to the Pine Mountain Grill for a health fair and got to meet the new doctors from WARH and ARH Clinic. Rachel Breeding gave us a lot of helpful information and we were served a delicious breakfast.

We also got to go to the Hazard College for a health fair. They had about 50 vendors set up with flu shots, blood pressure checks, eye checks, sugar tests and a lot of information and gifts. They gave away door prizes. Our prizewinners were Ruth Gibson, Lisa Craft, Debbie Miranda, and Sy Collins.

We also got to go to Oktoberfest in Wise, Va., for Senior Day. We met some wonderful seniors, got to play Bingo, and Lizzie Mae Wright won a pumpkin flower arrangement.

Some of our seniors were in a beauty pageant. Carl Parrott won third place in the Mr. Oktoberfest ; Janice Foster won third place in the Ms. Oktoberfest; and Brenda ‘Susie’ Kincer took the Prettiest Eyes Award.

Three members of the Ermine Senior Citizens Center were winners in the beauty pageant at October Fest in Wise, Va. Carl Parrott took third place in the Mr. October Fest contest, Janice Foster took third place in the Ms. October Fest contest, and Brenda ‘Susie’ Kincer was named “Prettiest Eyes”.

We would like to say how blessed we have been to have Alice Bentley work for us for the last two years. Alice is a friendly, caring, wonderful person who is always willing to help a senior, or do whatever we need her to do. Alice was presented with a Double Wedding Ring Quilt made by our seniors, Coleen Hart, Lorraine Kuracka, Geneva Adams, and Isabell Pease.

Thank you, Alice, for everything.

Our seniors planted a banana tree in May, watering and trimming it all summer. It reached a height of seven feet. It was a beauty to look at in front of our center. Way to go, seniors!

Well, until next time, stay warm and be safe.
