Seniors celebrate Thanksgiving early

Friday, the Ermine Senior Citizens Center had Thanksgiving dinner and our potluck dinner together as potluck fell on Thanksgiving Day.

We had 60 to attend and one child. We had turkey, dressing, gravy and everything else to go with turkey for dinner. Rhuford Hart brought his guitar and he and his wife Coleene sang some beautiful songs. Also, Rhuford is a Baptist minister and he talked about what good things the Lord does for us and our families. Then he led prayer and blessed the food. We sure had a wonderful day.

Eugene Slone from the sheriff’s department came and ate with us. We were really pleased to have him, as he has been very sick. He had a heart attack. Glad you’re OK now, Eugene.

Coletta Tolliver came and joined us. Glad you’re one of us now, Coletta.

We would like to thank and show our appreciation to Ermine Food World and IGA manager Steven Whitaker for donating the turkeys (baking them) and the gravy that we had for our dinner. Also, thank you, Melessia Collier, for doing a good job fixing the turkey and gravy for our dinner. Thank you, Jim Craft, for the drinks. Thanks to Dairy Queen manager Matilda for the five tickets she donated, the assistant manager at Pizza Hut for the pizzas, Woody Holbrook at Mayking BP service station for $10 of gas, and Pine Mountain Grill for the two $25 lunch tickets. Stanley Holbrook gave us a beautiful flower arrangement for the door prize, and Jim Craft won it. Thanks all.

Ralph Hall, glad you were with us, even if you didn’t win anything. We missed Jack and Sue Stallard and Winford Sturgill. They went to Lexington to be with their families for Thanksgiving. Hurry back, you guys.

We had a few new people but I didn’t get their names, but glad you all came and ate with us.

We don’t have anything planned for December yet, but we will. We hope to get to go Christmas shopping soon. We’re looking forward to our Christmas dinner, so come on, you cooks. Plan what you all will fix. It’s not too soon as time is moving on and Christmas is just around the corner.

We were sorry our two drivers, Rhonda and Anna, didn’t get to eat with us as they had to deliver dinners on the road, but we saved their dinners for them. Hope you enjoyed it, girls.

All you senior citizens are welcome to come and be with us. See you there.

God bless until next time.
