Hey you senior citizens, if you didn’t come to Ermine Center last week you sure missed out on the fun.
Monday we got ready for our Easter picnic we had at Kingscreek Park, and what a beautiful day we had. The Lord sure blessed our day. Most of us colored eggs and the first thing — yep, you guessed it — the workers hid the eggs and we hunted and found them. I don’t know who found the most, but I think it was Rhuford or J.R., as they each had a bag full.
J.R Kuracka found the surprise egg with $10 in it. Margaret Pease found the ‘hello egg’ with $1.
Then we drew out tickets for Mr. and Mrs. Bunny. Rhuford Hart won Mr. Bunny and Margaret Pease won Mrs. Bunny. Each won a stuffed rabbit with a $10 gift certificate to Walmart. We also gave away eight boxes of rabbits and eggs. Nope, I didn’t win one of those, either. That’s okay.
Before we ate we had a little Easter service. Rhuford conducted it and it was really nice. Then he played the guitar and he and Colleen sang some beautiful Christian songs.
Derek Barto was there, and he was amazed at how many seniors we had at our picnic and what a great time we had. We had all kinds of food. Thanks to Community Trust Bank for the beautiful Easter cake.
Oh yes, I almost forgot, we guessed how many jellybeans were in a jar, and Coleen won them.
We would like to thank Mr. Bill Meade for letting us use the park. It is a beautiful park to go to, and we had a great time. Maybe we’ll go back next year at Easter again.
Thursday, we went to Camp Nathaniel. We had 22 seniors and four workers to go. We had to use two vans. We all really enjoyed it, and especially enjoyed watching the man (I didn’t get his name) who did the drawing of Mary and the baby, then went over them and drew a picture that represented Christ. It was great. After it was finished I took a picture of it, and have it hanging on our bulletin board.
Barbara, one of our workers, won the wall hanging, and it was beautiful.
The food was delicious and the ladies who served the food were very nice to us. Thanks to Camp Nathaniel for inviting us each year. I hope we all can go back next year.
Friday, the center was closed and some had family to come in. Vina Lucas cooked her Easter dinner on Saturday. Her daughter Arnella and husband Tom Trauss of Cincinnati came in, and she also had her son Stanley and wife Creda, daughter Joella and husband Scott, granddaughter Brooke, son Steve and her sister Josephine Spangler for dinner. Vina was really happy to have her family home.
This month is almost gone, so I don’t think we’ll be doing anything this week, but May is coming up and we will be planning what we will do for that month.
One thing we will be doing is to go to the senior games. So come on, Ermine seniors, and bring those medals home.
We also have a senior citizen who is getting married. I will tell you who and when at a later date. If you don’t know, just keep guessing who it is.
We have been having great crowds at the center, so keep coming, you all.
Charles and Shirley Day, we missed you not being at the picnic, and also not going to Camp Nathaniel. Tuesday, April 19, was their wedding anniversary, so happy anniversary, you guys. I hope you have a hundred more. Love you both.
We would like to see all you seniors who don’t go to another center to come to ours and see what we do. You will enjoy it. We have a great site manager and good fellowship, so come on down. See you there.
God bless until next time.
