Hello from Kingscreek Center.
We want to wish all of you a belated happy Valentine’s Day. Our center went to Las Penas for a party on Valentine’s Day.
We had drawn names for a secret Valentine. We gave our secret Valentine a gift. The gifts we got were all very thoughtful and nice. I got a solar light for my garden this spring. I love it. Thank you, Coleen Cornett.
Those attending this party were Sue Williams, Faye Herron, Judy Eldridge, Eulah Miller, Erva D. Hart, Genita Callihan, Margie Sturgill, Coleen Cornett, Brenda Fields, Ethel Banks, Lorena Fields and myself.
We had two guests come to lunch with us, and don’t forget our wonderful cooks and drivers, Cathy Ingram, Jona Fields and Barbara Eldridge.
We had a wonderful lunch and lots of laughs, especially when they put the sombrero on Sue Williams and Lorena Fields. They sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to them and put ice cream on their noses.
We were very sorry that Mae Boggs couldn’t be there.
Thursday, we went to Pine Mountain Grill for a talk about heart health. We got sugar tests, oxygen and blood pressure tests, then we had a light breakfast. Those attending were Sue Williams, Margie Sturgill and myself, and Cathy Ingram drove us.
Some Tuesday or Thursday when you have nothing to do, visit a senior center. You might be surprised at all we do. I’ve been meeting some really nice new people since I have been attending the senior citizens centers.
That’s one of the nicest things about Letcher County, we are people who have similar life experiences and don’t try to put on the dog. I always say I’m a hillbilly through and through, and to be proud of who you are, always.
