The Kingscreek Senior Center joined the other Letcher County senior centers at Hemphill for a tea party. We dressed in our Christmas sweaters, sweatshirts and T’s. They served tea, sandwiches, fruit and cookies. We were (or tried to be) proper English men and women for the occasion.
Several guests joined us. Danny Webb stopped by and Jim Ward was there as were the singers from Oven Fork. Last but not least was Santa Claus. We sat on his knee and got a treat bag.
I live on a hill so the center bus can’t come up it. I walk to the main road (which I enjoy). One of our truly good guys stopped to ask if I needed a ride. I told him no, but he thought it was too cold (26 degrees) for me to stand there. He had me wait in his warm vehicle. Doug Begley, God will bless you for being so thoughtful.
Time is moving fast this time of year. Please take a minute or two to let your family and friends know they matter. Sometimes we get so caught up in the season people begin to feel they are a burden. We wouldn’t do any of this if we didn’t have family. So let them know how important they are. Christine Fields, I am so sorry about your husband James. I didn’t know him well, but I liked what I did know. If you ever want to talk, call me at 403-1058.
Better get this to the office early. The parade is tonight and that means the streets will be blocked. Hope they have a good parade and not be too cold.
Until next week. Love everyone and wear a jingle bell. They make a happy noise.
