Charles ‘Cigar’ Anderson, 87, died January 17 at Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital.
Born in Esserville, Va., he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Effie Anderson. He was the widower of Mella Marie Anderson, and the father of the late Charles Anderson Jr.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he had worked as a coal miner and a painter, and was retired from the Whitesburg ARH maintenance department.
Surviving are a daughter, Madonna Anderson Tackett; three grandchildren, Bridgette Denise Holbrook of Whitesburg, Misty Delph and husband Robbie, and Charlie Corbin Sexton of Leatherwood; and four great-grandchildren, Jazmin Marie Holbrook of Whitesburg, and Jordan Isaiah Delph, Joshua Blake Delph and Jacob Aharon Delph, all of Leatherwood.
Funeral ser vices were held January 21 at Everidge Funeral Home in Whitesburg. Burial was in Green Acres Cemetery at Ermine.
