Services are held for Barbara Bates

BARBARA H. BATES

Funeral services for Barbara H. Bates, 69, were held November 9 at Everidge Funeral Home. Burial was in Green Acres Cemetery at Ermine.

A daughter of the late Coy and Rosa Horton Holstein, she was born in Bethesda. She died November 5 at her home in Whitesburg.

Mrs. Bates was a member of the Whitesburg United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was the widow of Gardner Bates Jr.

She was a member of the Whitesburg High School Class of 1957, and was graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1962. She was a teacher in Letcher County School System.

Surviving are a daughter, Tiphanie Bates and Kevin Haggard of Indianapolis, Ind.; a son, Mark Bates and wife Cheri, Portland, Ore.; two sisters, Gloria Foster, Pascagoula, Miss., and Elana Hall of Ashland; and two brothers, Coy Holstein Jr., Fort Mitchell, and James Holstein, Pikeville.
