Services are held for Carrie ‘Kaye’ Bentley


Funeral services for Carrie Joyce “Kaye” Bentley, 87, were held February 25 in Pound, Va. Graveside services took place at the Haven of Rest Cemetery at Mayking.

A daughter of the late Morgan B. Johnson Sr. and Bertha Quillen Johnson, she was born in McRoberts. She died February 23 at Signature Heritage Healthcare Hall in Lawrenceburg.

Mrs. Bentley was the widow of Samuel H. Bentley and a sister of the late Rhudell Spears, Faye Hampton, Mae Spears, Joel Johnson and Morgan

Johnson Jr. She was also preceded in death by two nieces, Judy Spears and Bertha Hampton, and three nephews, William B. Spears Jr., Edwin M. Spears Jr. and Fred H. Spears.

She was a member of the Church of Christ and enjoyed country music and playing cards, especially Rook.

Surviving are five nieces, Jewel Spears, Paula Adams, Deborah Counts, Bertha Gayle Tackett and Karen Dewhirst, and six nephews, David Spears, Stephen Johnson, Frank Hampton, William Spears, Jimmy Spears and Joel Johnson.
