Funeral services for Delmer J. Fields, 65, were held August 15 at Millstone Missionary Baptist Church. Burial was in the Fields family cemetery at Little Cowan.
Born in Letcher County, he was a son of Phoebe Fields of Cowan and the late Nelson Fields, and a brother of the late Richard Fields and Howard Fields. He died August 12 at his home at Cowan.
He was a member of Millstone Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing, gardening, boating, and the outdoors.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Debra Darlene Ison Fields; his former wife, Yvonne Pack Fields of Kingscreek; three sons, Timothy Wayne Fields of Virgie, Brandon Ryan Fields of Knoxville, Tenn., and Cameron Dane Fields of Lexington; a daughter, Malorey Shae Fields Webb of Whitesburg; six brothers, James Fields of Alexandria, Tenn., Ralph Fields, Orell Fields, and Rex Fields, all of Cowan, and Harold Dean Fields and Gary Fields, both of Roanoke, Va.; eight sisters, Katherine Hoskins of Hebron, Evelyn Cosgriff , Janet Napier, and Helen Roberts, all of Cowan, Juanita Caudill of Asheboro, N.C., Ella Mae Caudill of Ice, Libby Honeycutt of Whitesburg, and Lisa Howard of Lexington; and two grandchildren, Timothy Lucas Fields and Taylor Lane Fields, both of Virgie.
