Services are held for Durward Narramore

Durward Edward Narramore, Jr., 64, of Jenkins, died October 28 at Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital.

Born in Jenkins to the late Durward E. Narramore, Sr., and Helen Louise Gilliam Narramore, he had worked for Manning Coal in Jenkins, and was working at Red Onion State Prison in Pound, Va.

He served on the Jenkins School board for 20 years and on the Kentucky School Board Association for 20 years, and was elected president of the association for four years.

Mr. Narramore was a song leader at First Baptist Church in Whitesburg.

Surviving are his wife, Deborah Lynn Narramore; a son, Durward Edward Narramore III and wife Cathy of Whitesburg; a daughter, Barbie Deanna Mercer and husband Matt of Taylorsville; three sisters, Margaret Ann Lewis and husband Richard, and Lana Shubert and husband Robert, all of Jenkins, and Lois Johnson of Frankfort; and six grandchildren, Sophia, Breyden, Bristol, Alexis, Addison and Ashton.

Funeral services were held October 31 at First Baptist Church. Burial was in Green Acres Cemetery in Ermine.
