Services are held for James Belcher

Funeral services for James Belcher, 75, of Shelby Gap, were held August 15 at Carty Funeral Home. Burial was in the Victor- Belcher family cemetery.

Born at Dorton, he was a son of the late Victor and Cordella Osborne Belcher. He was married to the late Shelby Jean Belcher, and after her death married Nola Jones Belcher, who survives him. He was the grandfather of the late Teddy Todd Tackett. He died August 12 at his home.

Belcher was a retired car dealer and a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of the Fleming Pentecostal Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Carol Sue Milam and Cheryl Ann Belcher, both of Shelby Gap, and Denna Kay Gaither, Horse Branch; two sons, James Ricky Belcher, Virgie, and Jeffrey Lynn Belcher, Shelby Gap; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; five stepchildren, Charles Douglas Osborne, Johnny Osborne, Stewart James Osborne, and Evelyn Adams, all of Eolia, and Nannie Fern Boggs, Cowan; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Stella Cook, Knoxville, Tenn.; Doris Potter, Dorton; and Loraine Potter, Elkhorn Creek; and a brother, Arnold Belcher, Shelby Gap.
