Funeral services for Lieutenant Colonel James Monroe Caudill Jr., 87, were conducted July 30 in Whitesburg. Burial was in the Sandlick Cemetery.
Born in Neon to the late James M. Caudill Sr., and Atha Bentley Caudill, he died July 28 at his home in Mayking.
He was the widower of Betty June Wynkoop Caudill, and the father of the late James M. Caudill, III.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and served in Vietnam.
Surviving are two sons, Barry V. Caudill and wife Eleanor of Mayking, and Rory K. Caudill and wife Mika of Lexington; two sisters, Pauline “Penny” Ritter Combs of Whitesburg, and Anna C. Craft of North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Brandee Caudill Hall, Leslie Brooke Caudill, James M. Caudill IV, Tina Caudill Kincer, Rodney Wayne Caudill, Takumi Caudill and Corwin Caudill; six great-grandchildren, Zachary Clay Hall, Molly Elizabeth Hall, Paige Caudill, Kyle Caudill, Dylan Caudill, and Haley Caudill; and five caregivers, Nora Fowler, Norma Noble, Julie Breeding, Money Cornett, and Roberta Brown.
