Jerry Wayne Abbott, 53, of Canmer, died April 5 at the Markey Cancer Center in Lexington.
Born in Dayton, Ohio, he was a son of Betty Jean Sparkman, now of Lexington, and Joe Abbott, now of Michigan, and lived most of his life in Letcher County.
He was a stepson of the late Squire Sparkman.
He had worked as a carpenter, and was a member of the Fleming Baptist Church. He enjoyed travelling, riding his motorcycle and listening to music.
Surviving in addition to his mother and father are his partner, Cynthia Spangler; three sisters, Linda Larkey and Denise King, both of Lexington, and Terri Abbott, of Nashville, Tenn.; and three brothers, Glenn Sparkman, of Nashville, Tenn., and Joe Abbott, Jr. and Eddie Abbott, both of Michigan.
Funeral services were held April 8, at the Fleming Baptist Church. Burial was in the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens at Jeff.
