Services are held for Logan Collins




Funeral services for Logan Collins, 87, were held February 22 at the United Methodist Church in Whitesburg. Entombment was in Green Acres Memorial Park at Ermine.

A son of the late James Leonard and Elizabeth Logan Collins, he was born in Letcher County. He died February 19 at Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital.

Collins was the widower of Nilla Cook Collins, and was a brother of the late Lovell Collins, Lawrence Collins, Lake Craft, and Lena Hill.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5829 and American Legion Douglas Day Post 152. He was also a member of the Whitesburg Lions Club for more than 50 years, Masonic Lodge No. 754, and Whitesburg United Methodist Church.

Surviving are a son, Dr. Ricky Collins and wife Lisa, Whitesburg; a daughter, Alice Holbrook and husband John, Seymour, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Kevin Marvel, Atlanta, Ga.; Amy Marvel and Jennifer Marvel, both of Whitesburg; Capt. Matthew Holbrook and wife Jessica, Lexington; and David Holbrook and Whitney Holbrook, both of Seymour, Tenn.; and a great-granddaughter, Hailey Grace Holbrook, Lexington.

Everidge Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
