Services are held for Nettie Mullin




Funeral services for Nettie Parks Mullins, 96, of Burdine, were held December 28 at the Burdine Freewill Baptist Church. Burial was in Powell Valley Memorial Gardens in Big Stone Gap, Va.

A daughter of the late Tom and Daisey Dunnigan Walton, she was born in Canal City and moved to Letcher County in the 1930s. She was retired from Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital as a licensed practical nurse, and was a member of the Burdine Freewill Baptist Church.

A widow of the late Adam Parks and of the late Roy Mullins, she is survived by a son, William “Bill” Parks of Daytona Beach, Fla.; a sister, Louetta Bach of Fairborn, Ohio; several stepchildren and step-grandchildren; eight grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Eugene Parks, and a daughter, Rhetta Gay Scurel.
