Ted Cook, 93, died March 28.
Born in Democrat, he was a son of the late Floyd and Ella Richardson Cook.
He was a high school teacher, assistant principle and coach, and retired from the Kentucky State Department of Education as the Director of Adult Education.
He was a member of Beaumont Presbyterian Church and The Defenders of Bataan and Corregidor. He was an Army veteran of World War II, and during his service he was a Japanese prisoner of war and a survivor of the Bataan Death March.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Patsy Back Cook; his children, Richard Cook and wife Patricia, Jackie Merrifield and husband Ron, and Libby Leedy and husband Steve, all of Lexington; 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Lettie Craft Cook, as well as five brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services were held April 1 at Beaumont Presbyterian Church. Burial was at Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
