Derrielene M. Day, 80, died November 5 at her home in Big Rapids, Mich.
She was born in Neon to the late Derriel and Cuba Fugate Short.
Mrs. Day was graduated from Neon High School as class valedictorian in 1957, and went on to earn her associate’s degree in Louisville.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, was formerly involved with the Big Rapids Hospital Auxiliary, and volunteered her time with W.I.S.E.
Surviving are her husband, Joe R. Day; three children, Meigs Day and wife Jane of Grand Rapids, Mich., Michael Day and wife Mitzi of Big Rapids, Mich., and Melanie Martin and husband Patrick of Davisburg, Mich.; and seven grandchildren, Kayleigh, Kyle, Alisha, Brooke, Connor, Brennen, and Macy.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jared Michael Day.
Private family services will be held today (Wednesday, November 11) at the First United Methodist Church in Michigan. Burial will follow in the Highland View Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in her name may be made for her church, A.R.C. of Mecosta County, or the S.I.D.S. Alliance. Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids, Mich., has charge of the arrangements.
