Andrew Carter, 25, died June 17 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington after a long illness.
A son of the Rev. Randy Carter of Pound, Va., and Victoria Faye Harp of Coeburn, Va., he attended the Norton Community Church and Pyles Memorial Chapel in Pound.
He enjoyed four-wheeling, weight lifting and playing basketball.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his stepfather, Tracy Harp of Coeburn; brothers, Jeremy Carter and wife Shauna, and Timothy Carter, all of Pound; grandparents, Paul and Joan Carter of Pound; two nieces, Sophie and Holden Drew Carter; a nephew, Urijah Carter; several aunts, uncles and cousins; Emma Jean Hubbard and Jeanette Vanover; caregivers, Brittany Davis, Sarah Nicholson, Phyllis Dunn and Pat Mullins; chaplains, Mark Killiam, Steve Richmond and Doug Dunn; and friend, Bobby Banks.
Preceding him in death were his grandparents, James and Faye Gentry; an uncle, Shannon Gentry; and a great-uncle, Jerry Vanover.
Funeral services were held June 20 in Pound. Burial was in the Vanover Cemetery in Pound.
