Services held for Aubrey Wells, 78




Aubrey Wells, 78, of Eolia, died May 26 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on April 24 in Wise, Va.

Born in Irvine, he was a son of the late Reverend Ben and Paulina Wells. He was a brother of the late Ethel McQueen, Bill Wells, Earnest Wells, Bevley Wells and Donald Wells.

A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he was retired as a building contractor, and was an actor in the films ‘Coal Miner’s Daughter’ and ‘Kentucky Woman.’

Wells was a member of the Whitesburg Masonic Lodge 754 and of Pine Hill Baptist Church in Irvine.

Surviving are a son, Aubrey S. Wells and wife Kathy of Waco; a daughter, Pauline Wells of Lexington; a grandson, Matthew Wells; a granddaughter, Ashley Weaver and husband Ray of Richmond; two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Caleb Weaver; Ashley Carter of Richmond; and June Maggard and family of Eolia.

Funeral services were held June 1 at Pine Hill Baptist Church in Irvine. Burial was in the Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville.

Letcher Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
