Services held for Carol Litts




Carol Anne Litts, 60, of Jenkins, died July 15 at St. Joseph Hospice Center in Lexington.

Born in Norton, Va., to Thelma Hidvegi Litts and the late Raymond C. Litts, she was a lifelong resident of Jenkins.

She was graduated from Jenkins High School and attended the University of Kentucky before returning home to take over the family business.

She was serving her third term on the Jenkins City Council, had served on the Mountain Heritage Festival Committee, and was chairman of the Raymond C. Litts Memorial Golf Tournament.

She had formerly served on the Jenkins Community Hospital Board of Directors, was a past member of the Jenkins Days Committee, and was the past president of the Elkhorn County Club Ladies’ Golf Tournament.

She was owner for more than 26 years of the Flower House in Jenkins.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by a brother, Stevie Joe Litts, of Jenkins, and friends, Wendy Jones, Patty Wood, Debbie Hogg, Lisa Sanders, Kathy Sergent, Edith Davis, Jo Ann Baldwin, Kim Page and Sandy Spears.

Funeral services were held July 18 at Jenkins United Methodist Church. Entombment was in Powell Valley Memorial Gardens at Big Stone Gap, Va.
