Fred Thomas Davis, 87, died February 14 at Pikeville Medical Center.
A son of the late A.C. and Grace Davis, he was born in Coeburn, Va. He was the widower of Anna Taylor Davis and was also preceded in death by three sisters, two brothers and a granddaughter.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II veteran and an employee of Champion Stores and Pet Dairy He retired as a heavy equipment operator from Beth-Elkhorn and worked as a funeral director assistant at Polly and Craft Funeral Home for more than 20 years.
He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America and an honorary Kentucky Colonel.
Survivors include a daughter, Katherine Thompson and husband Paul of Jenkins; a son, Tommy Davis and wife Karen of Lexington; three grandchildren, Chad Davis and Caroline Calcote, of St. Petersburg, Fla., Brian Thompson and fiancée Leigh Ann Jordan, and Shellie Thompson, all of Lexington; and four greatgrandchildren, Cal Davis, Mack Davis, both of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Grace Davis and Hope Davis, both of Lexington.
Funeral services were held February 20 in Jenkins. Entombment will be held at Green Acres, Ermine, at a later date.
