Services held for Hoby Johnson


Funeral services for Hoby Johnson, 67, of Deane, were held April 10 at Carty Funeral Home in Neon. Burial with military rites was in the Meade-Johnson Cemetery at Deane.

Born in Whitesburg to the late James Johnson and Gladys Hall Johnson, he died April 6 at Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital.

He was the widower of Carol Sue Meade Johnson, a stepson of the late Virginia Mette Johnson, and a brother of the late Jo Ann Johnson and Jimmy Johnson.

Mr. Johnson had honorably served in the U.S. military.

Surviving him are a daughter, Leshana Johnson of Deane; two grandchildren,

Hoby Johnson and Kallie Johnson; five sisters, Janice Johnson of Florida, Susan Craft and husband Billy and Janet Burgess and husband Mike, all of Indian Creek, Margaret Hall and husband Jeff of Winchester, and Rebecca Johnson of Lexington; four brothers, Michael Johnson and wife Betty of Indian Creek, Ronnie Johnson of Winchester, Dennis Johnson of Deane, and James Johnson and wife Elizabeth of Hitchins; a brother-in-law, Calloway Meade and wife Linda of Deane; a sister-in-law, Lee Ward of Hammond, Ind.; a nephew, Michael Ward of Carylville, Tenn.; and a niece, Natasha Webb and husband Josh of Somerset.
