Services held for Jack Adams

Jack Newell Adams, 91, died April 24 in Whitesburg. He was a resident at Letcher Manor Nursing Home.

A son of the late Riley and Marjorie Adams, he was the widower of Mable Adams. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Diane Combs, and a son-in-law, Homer Combs.

Mr. Adams was a veteran of the Korean War and, with his wife, was a founding member of Colson Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and bus driver. He was an avid fisherman, gardener, and handyman, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners. He retired as a painter from Appalachian Regional Healthcare, where he worked for many years.

Surviving are a son Stephen

Adams and wife Lucretia; a daughter, Monieca Hogg and husband Steve; four grandchildren, Josh Adams and wife Blaire, Andrea McGaha and husband Nick, Steven Hogg and wife Sara, and Jacqueline Egan and husband Evan; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Bud Adams and wife Brenda; and two sisters, Dixie Howard and Judy Gilley and husband James.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Jack Adams to Colson Baptist Church in care of First Baptist Church, 170 Madison Avenue Whitesburg, Ky. 41858.

Private services were held.

Letcher Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
