Services held for Janet Fleming



Funeral services for Janet Lee Banks Fleming, 62, of Fleming-Neon, were held September 6 at the Neon First Church of God. Burial was in Green Acres Cemetery at Ermine.

Born in Whitesburg to the late Durward and Loretta Blevins Banks, she died September 3 after a long illness.

She was graduated from Fleming-Neon High School and the Academy of Beauty in Lexington, and worked several years in Letcher County as a beautician.

Mrs. Fleming had served as President of the Fleming- Neon Little League Association, and was Beta Sigma Phi Chapter Xi Alpha Pi. She and her sister, Susie Polis, coached the Rockies Minor League Team.

She was a past owner and operator of the Letcher Flower Shop and the Fleming Superette.

Surviving are her husband, Steve Fleming; three sons, Steven Ray Fleming and wife Brandi of Cynthiana, Deven Chase Fleming and wife Angela of Rutledge, Tenn., and Shane Allen Fleming of Neon; a granddaughter, Anna Grace; two sisters, Sheila B. Holbrook of Tolliver Town, and Susan B. Polis and husband David of Neon; a brother, Archie Banks and wife Glenda of Colson; and an uncle and aunt, Bob and Patty Blevins of Woodridge, Va.
