John James Williams, 74, of Dover, Fla, died December 14.
A son of the late James M. Williams, Jr., an American GI, and Doris Buddle Williams, a British war bride, he was born in Abbots Ripton, Cambridgeshire, England.
Many of Mr. Williams’s fondest memories were of McRoberts, where he spent countless hours hunting and fishing with his father. Although he moved from Kentucky at the age of 18, he loved retelling stories of special times with family and friends. Even though many miles separated them, he always cared deeply for his mother and six sisters. Without fail, he expressed his love for them.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Geneva Ruth Williams; his stepson, John Charlton Oldham; his stepson-in-law, Jimmy Salyer, and his nephew John Patrick Sanders.
Surviving are his sisters, Eileen Sanders and husband Kedrick of Jenkins, Evelyn Henderson and husband Bruce of West Chesterfield, Va., Catherine Tucker and husband Gary of Kingsport, Tenn., Debbie Adkins and husband Jeff of Pikeville, and Virginia Sandusky and Doris Jean “DJ” Frazier, both of Whitesburg; a stepdaughter, Bertie Kaye
JOHN JAMES WILLIAMS Salyer; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, eleven nieces and nephews, and eight greatnieces and nephews.
Mr. Williams was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church of Tampa in Seffner, Fla. He and his wife were the owners/operators of Oaklea Manor Motel and Apartments.
Funeral services for Mr. Williams were held December 18 in Florida. He will be interred at Dover First Baptist Church Cemetery in Dover, Fla.
