Funeral services for June Bentley Sergent, 72, of Deane, were held August 8 at Carty Funeral Home in Neon. Burial was in John Bentley Cemetery at Deane.
She died August 4 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, Tenn.
Born at Fleming, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Tony Bates Johnson. She was the widow of Elmer Bentley, and later married Harold Sergent, who survives her.
She was a sister of the late Ruth Sizemore and Dicky Johnson.
She had been an owner and operator of Deane Dairy Barn for a number of years, a clerk at the Neon Public Library, and a teacher’s aid.
She was a member of Deane Church of Christ since 1956.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Bobbie Seals and husband Jeff of Hemphill; two sons, Arnold Bentley and wife Shannon of Huntington, Ind., and Jeffrey Bentley and fiancé Terry, of Nippa; a brother, Lorenza Johnson of Michigan; a sister, Bobbie Goodman of Lexington; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
