Laurel “Yaya” Anne Mc- Call, 56, of Neon, died April 1 at Pikeville Medical Center.
Born in Whitesburg to Nellean Bentley and the late Daniel Orville Bentley, Sr., she was a sister of the late Daniel Orville Bentley, Jr., and Kathy Ann Bentley.
She was graduated with an associate’s degree from Alice Lloyd College, a bachelor’s degree from Pikeville College, and a Rank 1 master’s degree from Morehead State University.
Her education career spanned more than 30 years, and she taught at elementary schools throughout Letcher County and served as principal of Letcher Elementary School. She was retired from Letcher County Central High School.
She was a member of the Kentucky Education Association, and had coached cheerleading.
Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband, James McCall of Neon; five daughters, Tina Hall and Wanda Mc- Call, both of Cumberland, Cecilia McCall of Jackson, Amanda Bates of Fort Campbell, and Ashley Mc- Call, of Neon; a son, James Allen McCall, of Berea; 10 grandchildren, a greatgrandchild; three sisters, Carol Addington of Beefhide, Beverly Hunt of Pikeville, and Lana Billiter, of Payne Gap; and a brother, Michael Bentley of Neon.
Funeral services were held April 5 at the Seco Freewill Baptist Church. Burial was at Beefhide.
