Funeral services for Lois Geneva Adams, 85, were held January 21 in Whitesburg. Burial was in the Thornton Cemetery.
Born in Whitley City to the late Dan and Peggy Slaven Taylor, she died January 17 at Pikeville Medical Center.
The widow of John M. Adams, she was later married to Winford Sturgill, who survives her.
She was the mother of the late Carl Adams, Wanda Tolliver, Tena Belle Adams, Karen Haynes and Janet Adams, a sister of the late Goldie Perry, Betty Pease, Alpha Meeks, Harvey Taylor, Oliver Taylor, George Taylor, and the mother-in-law of the late Eddie Dean Haynes.
Mrs. Adams was a member of the Millstone Missionary Baptist Church for more than 30 years.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Linda Hatton and husband Larry of Sandlick; a sister, Isabell Pease of Ermine; a son-in-law, Buck Tolliver of Ermine; six grandchildren, Tammy Fields and husband Joe, Sherry Keel and husband James, Wendy Day and husband Kevin, Chris Hatton and wife Sarah, Phillip Haynes and Amanda Brown and husband Tim.
