Funeral services for former Whitesburg resident Marvin Dewey Polly, 87, of North Vernon, Ind., were held September 22 in North Vernon. Burial was in Vernon Cemetery.
A son of the late Gilbert H. and Martha Jane Craft Polly, he was born in Prestonsburg. He died September 20.
Mr. Polly was a 1952 graduate of North Vernon High School and played the saxophone in the marching band while he attended the University of Louisville. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in the Korean Conflict.
He was retired from Cummins Engine Co. in 1988 and for 13 years was the chief executive officer of Polly Distributors.
Mr. Polly enjoyed Western movies and building model cars and planes.
Surviving are his wife, Betty L. Eversole Polly; a son, Montie Polly and wife Kim of North Vernon, Ind.; a brother, Don Polly of Naples, Fla.; grandchildren Amie Mascara and husband Matt of Lodi, Calif., Miranda Forte and husband Damon of Medford, N.J., Heather Parrett and husband Steven of Trafalgar, Ind., Britney Polly of Franklin, Ind., and Lindsey Wallpe and husband Brandon of Batesville, Ind.; and six great-grandchildren.
