Services held for Opal Banks



Funeral services for Opal Mae Banks, 79, were held May 20 at the Jeremiah Missionary Baptist Church. Burial was in Burton Hill Cemetery at Letcher.

A daughter of the late George M. and Sally Banks Adams, she died May 18.

She was the widow of Everett Banks, and a sister of the late George M. Adams Jr., Gurney Adams, James Adams, Douglas Adams, and Martha Howard, and a great-grandmother of the late Hailey Banks.

Surviving are two sons, Ed Banks and wife Cheryl, and Bob Banks and wife Delana, all of Letcher; a daughter, Sue Goodson and husband Densmore of Letcher; two brothers, Bill Adams of Letcher and Luther Adams of Morehead; three sisters, Hazel Adams and Susie Raglin, both of Letcher, and Danola Bell of Farmersville, Oh.; eight grandchildren, Kenny Joe, Beth, Jessie, Josh, Dallas, Desiree, Jacquie and Collen; and seven great-grandchildren, Hunter, Gage, Hayden, Hannah, Logan, Lily Mae, and Layla.

Letcher Funeral Home of Whitesburg had charge of arrangements.
