Reo Halcomb Cornett, 86, died November 13 at her residence at Linefork following an extended illness.
A daughter of the late Arthur Bee and Nervie Eldridge Halcomb, she was the widow of Jason Cornett. She was a native and lifelong resident of Letcher County.
Surviving are eight children and their spouses, Vivian and Larry Combs of Linefork, Bee and Theresa Cornett of Gordon, Emory and Tracey Cornett of Holton, Ind., Grace and Gary Halcomb of Linefork, Nervesta and Randy Joe of Cowan, Roy and Mona Cornett of Linefork, Timothy and Shannon of Linefork, Jason Cornett Jr. and Diane of Holton, Ind.; a son-inlaw, David Boggs of Cowan; 29 grandchildren, 49 greatgrandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother and his wife, Clifford and Maxine Halcomb of Cumberland; a sister, Roxie Lovelace of Florence; caregiver, a Paula Boggs; and a special niece, Lois Thornsberry and family
Mrs. Cornett was preceded in death by four children, Haywood, Priscilla, Major and Ada; a great-grandson, David “Pee Wee” Boggs; a granddaughter, Ashley Osbourne; seven sisters, Maxine, Lola, Maudie, Myrtle, Elsie, Shirley and Freda; and four brothers, Hillard, Ellis, Curtis and Atlas.
Funeral services were held November 16 at the Defeated Creek Old Regular Baptist Church. Burial was in the Cornett Cemetery at Linefork.
