Reta Faye Ballou, 57, of Thornton died November 12 at Hazard Appalachian Regional Hospital.
She was a daughter of the late Denver Marcus and Maewood Lucas, and was also preceded in death by six sisters, Linda “Chick” Bentley, Bobbie Tyree, Liga Mae Baker, Eliza Sexton, Wilma Collins, and Jenny Lucas.
Surviving are her husband, Ricky A. Ballou; a daughter, Samantha Jo Sergent Fulton of Kona; a stepson, Devin Ballou of Pound, Va.; a stepdaughter, Kendra Ballou of Dry Fork; two brothers, Denver Lucas of Beaverdam and Dan Lucas of Thornton; five sisters, Rosa Bates of Craft’s Colly, Elizabeth Anderson of Deane, Patty Bentley of Whitaker, Penny Adams of Thornton, and Geneva Dollarhide of Columbus, Ind.; and grandchildren, Clayton Shade Fulton, Corban Case Fulton, Taylyn Tolliver, Levi Ballou, and Lilly Ballou.
Funeral services were held November 16 at the Millstone Missionary Baptist Church. Burial was in the Goins Cemetery at Thornton.
Letcher Funeral Home of Whitesburg had charge of arrangements.
