Services held for Rev. Fred Bartley Jr.

Funeral services for the Rev. Fred Bartley Jr., 65, of Jenkins, were held May 17 in Jenkins. Burial was in the Jenkins-Payne Gap Cemetery.

A son of the late Fred Bartley Sr. and Mabel Harris Bartley, he was born in Letcher County. He died May 13 at Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital.

He worked for many years for Adams Stone as a control room equipment operator, and was an ordained Freewill Baptist minister. He was a member of Moore’s Chapel Church, treasurer and past master of Jenkins Masonic Lodge #856 of F&AM, past worthy patron of Pine Mountain Chapter #147 of the Order of the Eastern Star, and past president of the Elkhorn Shrine Club.

Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Branham Bartley; a daughter, Melinda Bryant and husband Wally, Plainville, Ill.; a son, Homer Bartley and wife Tereasa, Plymouth, Mich.; two stepsons, Greg Lark, East Point, Mich., and Joe Brown, Macomb, Mich.; five grandchildren, Becky, Ashley, Kevin, Kennedi and Blake; three sisters, Magdalene Hall, Wanda Lee Adams and Beatrice Woods, all of Jenkins; a brother, Jimmy Ray Woods, Jenkins; and a sister-in-law, Martha Branham.
