Funeral services for Richard Wiley Adams, 83, of Mayking, were held July 1 at Everidge Funeral Home. Burial was in Green Acres Cemetery at Ermine.
The son of the late Wiley and Ritter Kincer Adams, he was born in Letcher County. He died June 28 at Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital. He was a brother of the late Eva Marie Adams, Edith Pauline Adams and Faye Kincer.
He was a member of the Whitesburg Masonic Lodge No. 754 and for 44 years taught in the Letcher County School System, where he was also a coach and drove a school bus. He worked at the A&P grocery store from 1955 until it closed.
Surviving are his wife, Pauline Blair Adams; a son, Richard Wayne Adams and wife Rachel, Mayking; three sisters, Mary Rebecca Polly of Mayking, Ina Walton and husband Niles of Naples, Fla., and Judy Brown and husband Carlos of Lexington; and a sister-in-law, Juanita Wampler of Dayton, Ohio.
