Funeral services for Ruth Raper, 86, of Neon were held January 18 at the Neon First Church of God. Burial was in the Sardis Cemetery in Ohio.
Born in West Virginia to the late John Andrew and Lillian Pollin Williams, she died January 15 at Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital. She was a halfsister of the late Harold Williams.
She was retired from the State of Kentucky, where she worked in Social Services. She had served as a Sunday School teacher and had been recognized by the State Association of the First Church of God for her work in the church, and was awarded a lifetime membership.
She was a member of the Neon Lions Club for more than 25 years, the Boone Fork Senior Citizens and the Pine Mountain Co-Op.
Surviving are her husband of 65 years, the Rev. Bernard Raper; two sons, Melvin Lee Raper and wife Linda of Neon, and Timothy John Raper and wife Donna of Mt. Sterling; and a brother, Ralph Williams of Arkansas.
Carty Funeral Home of Neon had charge of arrangements.
