Services held for Vanessa Bowman




Funeral services for Vanessa Bowman, 70, were held October 28. Burial was in the Owsley Cemetery.

Born in Leslie County, Mrs. Bowman was a daughter of the late Owen and Victoria Couch Sizemore and was a former resident of Marlowe. She was the mother of the late Owen “Rusty” Hatton and a sister of the late Maxine Spencer, Glen Sizemore, Dennis Sizemore, and Dean Sizemore. She died October 26 after a long illness.

Mrs. Bowman was employed as a charge nurse for the Laurel County Detention Center in London, and also worked for Corbin Nursing Home. She was an ordained minister and served as an associate pastor at Old Path Holiness Church in Corbin.

Surviving are her husband, Henry Edward Bowman; three children, Vicki Underwood and husband Steven, Carey, Ohio; Ivan Hatton, London; and Allen Hatton, Deland, Fla.; two stepchildren, James Bowman and wife Nancy, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Charlotte Lusk and husband Terry, Blaine, Tenn.; three brothers, Wayne Sizemore and Kenny Sizemore, both of London, and Kermit Sizemore, Indianapolis, Ind.; five sisters, Geneva Evans, Williamsburg; Chloe Spencer, Lily; Dixie Hinebeck and Joan Powell, both of London; and Evelyn Joyce Overbey, Orlando, Fla.; seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
