Services held July 2 for Mrs. Maggard, 89

Olga Wan Eva June Maggard, 89, died July 1 at her residence in Eolia.

The daughter of the late J.D. and Vera Maggard, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Denise Bedwell; a son-in-law, J.D. Bedwell; and a grandchild, Jai Devon Bedwell.

A former candidate for the office of Letcher County Judge/ Executive, Mrs. Maggard was also very active in animal rescue efforts here.

She was a member of the Little Dove Baptist Church.

Surviving are a son, Ellis Maggard II and wife Lisa of Eolia; a daughter, Olivia Sprouse of Georgetown; grandchildren, John and RaeAnna Bedwell of Eolia, Emily Sprouse of Nashville, Tenn., and Corde and Lisa Sprouse and daughter Colbee of Nashville, Tenn.; an adopted son, Ted Banks; two caregivers, Jewell Sturgill and Vanessa Kincer; and friends, J.R. Hendrickson and Leanna and son Odin.

Funeral services were held July 2 at Letcher Funeral Home.
