Services set for Harold Sparks

Funeral services for Harold Dean Sparks, 85, will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow (Thursday) at the Deane Baptist Church. Burial will be in the John Bentley family cemetery at Deane.

A son of the late Henry W. and Lucinda Sparks, he was born at Deane. He died March 22 in Shelbyville, Ind.

Sparks was a veteran of World War II, serving in Butte, Montana and in Europe. He was a coal miner and retired with Beth-Elkhorn Coal Co. in 1976. He was a member of the Deane Baptist Church and the Neon Masonic Lodge.

Surviving are two sons, Daniel Sparks and wife Linda, Shelbyville, Ind., and Rick Sparks and wife Judy, Humboldt, Tenn.; a sister, Geraldine Hall and husband Bruce, Deane; five grandchildren, Lucretia Worster and husband Mark, Brian Sparks, Kris Sparks, Lucinda DeRolf and husband Kenneth, and Anna Mucaluso; and two greatgrandchildren, Christian DeRolf and Elizabeth DeRolf.

Carty Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
