Services set for Tucker




Funeral services for Calvin Ray Tucker, 77, of Jenkins, will be held at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday) at Carty Funeral Home in Jenkins. Burial will be in Green Acres Cemetery at Ermine.

A son of the late Oscar Vicars and Maudie Francis Whitaker Tucker, he was born at Haymond. He died October 29 at Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital.

Tucker was a disabled coal miner and a member of the United Mine Workers of America. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Payne Gap Freewill Baptist Church.

He was married to the late Dorothy Statzer Tucker, and was a brother of the late Ruth Robinson and Margie Harter.

Surviving are four daughters, Ollie Logan, Versailles; Vicki Jones, Whitesburg; Delores Tucker, Jenkins; and Barbara Shell, Colson; three sons, Douglas Longacre, Louisville; Calvin Ray Tucker Jr., Monroe, N.C.; and Carl Wayne Tucker, Burdine; 16 grandchildren; seven greatgrandchildren; a sister, Geneva Statzer, Jeff; and three brothers, Ralph Tucker, Baltimore, Md.; Wayne Tucker, Indiana; and James Tucker, Hazard.
