Services set for wreck victim




Funeral services will be held Thursday for an Isom man who died of injuries sustained in a wreck earlier this week.

Kentucky State Police say Marty Dixon, 47, died May 10 after he lost control of the 2001 Isuzu he was driving, went over an embankment and struck a tree.

Dixon was traveling on Highway 1103 in Hallie around 6 p.m. at the time of the collision.

Letcher County Coroner Wallace “Spanky” Bolling Jr. said Gary Slone, of Turkey Creek, a passenger in the vehicle, was transported by ambulance to the Whitesburg hospital.

Dixon was pronounced dead at 6:53 p.m. by Bolling.

Police said seatbelts were in use.

KSP Trooper Brandon Thomas has charge of the investigation.

Dixon is survived by his mother, Lorene Dixon of Isom; a daughter, Holly Candida Roark of Linefork; a a son, Zachary Hobert Dixon of Linefork; two sisters, Tammy Cornett of Linefork and Amanda Mullins of Whitesburg; a brother, Scott Dixon of Blackey, and a grandchild.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday (today) at Letcher Funeral Home. Funeral services are set for noon on May 13 at Letcher Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the family cemetery at Linefork.
