Pine Mountain Settlement School will host several events in April. The events include:
• Spring clean-up, April 16. Volunteers will help pick up garbage along the roadway.
• Beginners’ beekeeping workshop, April 21. State apiarist Tammy Hall will teach the advantages and disadvantages of swarms, nucs and packages, and basic bee equipment. The workshop costs $5, but is free for Grow Appalachia participants and their families.
• Pine Mountain wildflower weekend, April 22- 24. The speaker will be Mary Carol Cooper, retired conservation educator with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources and coordinator of the native plant program at Salato Wildlife Education Center.
• Documenting the family homestead workshop, April 23. The speaker will be architectural historian Karen Hudson. The featured homestead will be the twostory log cabin of John Shell.
