Seven already show interest in running for county offices

While Nov. 4 was the first day to file for county offices in the May 2010 primary election, seven persons had already picked up papers from the Letcher County Clerk’s Office indicating they would run for office.

Letcher County Judge/Executive Jim Ward was the first to pick up filing papers (on Oct. 30). Ward was followed by six others, including incumbents Letcher County Attorney Harold Bolling and Letcher County Sheriff Danny Webb.

Brenda Williamson, a Democrat from Partridge, and Charles Hall, a Republican from Whitesburg, are interested in running for magistrate of District 1.

Incumbent District Three Magistrate Codell Gibson and former District Three Magistrate Durward E. “Trey” Narramore III picked up papers indicating they hope to be able to meet each other in next year’s general election.
