The Mountain Heritage Festival Scholarship Committee has selected the winners of the 2008 Mountain Heritage Scholarships. They are:
Matthew Corbett, son of Rick Corbett and Karen Corbett, a 2008 graduate of Jenkins High School. Corbett is a fireman at the Jenkins Fire Department and plans to attend college and work toward a degree in arson investigation.
Joshua Aaron Potter, son of Jeff and Contrena Potter, a 2008 graduate of Jenkins High School. He plans to attend college and major in criminal psychology.
Heather Maggard, daughter of Tim and Sandra Maggard, a 2008 graduate of Jenkins High School. She plans to attend Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College. Her goal is to become a physical therapist specializing in children’s physical therapy.
Amanda Lynn Wright-Brown, who recently completed the associate degree nursing program at Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College. She was the recipient of the program’s nursing honors award. She plans to attend Eastern Kentucky University at the Hazard campus for a bachelor’s degree of science in nursing with the goal of obtaining her master’s degree and becoming a nurse practitioner.
Anthony Chase Adams, son of Anthony and Lisa Adams, a 2008 graduate of Letcher County Central High School. He plans to begin his pre-medicine curriculum at the University of Kentucky. His goal is to become a physician.
Heather Hatton, daughter of Stephen and Lisa Hatton, a 2008 graduate of Letcher County Central High School. She plans to attend Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College. She plans to be a physician’s assistant.
Corey Wright, son of Chad and Vickie Wright, a 2008 graduate of Letcher County Central High School. He plans to attend Alice Lloyd College to obtain a degree in special education.
