Sexton pleads not guilty to drug trafficking counts



A preliminary hearing is scheduled for next week for the president of the Sandlick Volunteer Fire Department who was arrested last week on a drug trafficking charge.

Buddy Sexton, 73, pleaded not guilty during his arraignment on Nov. 10 in Letcher District Court. He will be back in court at 10 a.m. on Nov. 24 for his preliminary hearing.

Sexton was arrested Nov. 4 after members of the Letcher County Sheriff ’s Department found approximately three ounces of cocaine, and five hydrocodone and Xanax tablets in the red Chevrolet truck he was driving. Police also seized $1,840 in cash and a .38 caliber handgun that were found in the truck.

Sexton is also a member of the Letcher County Blighted and Deteriorated Property Committee.
