Shawn Gilley, Erica Wynn are wed at Partridge Sat.

Blackey

Shawn Gilley and Erica Wynn were married on Saturday, March 8, at the Louis Creek Pentecostal Church at Partridge. The reception was held at the Benham Inn. Shawn is the son of Bruce and Rita Gilley of Letcher. Shawn and Erica were living at Harlan. I wish them the best.

Randall and Rose Mary Rowe of Caudills Branch went to Lexington on March 1 to see George Strait in concert. They went for Randall’s birthday, which was on Feb. 27.

My niece, Ashlee Morgan of Isom, finally had her surgery in Pikeville on March 3. She had to have her tonsils taken out and it was canceled a few times before she got it done. She is the daughter of Randy and Mary Ann Morgan of Isom.

Congratulations to Beck and McKenzie Miller of Blackey on the birth of their son. Christian McKenzie Miller was born on March 6. He weighed 7 pounds, 11 ounces and was 20 inches long. His grandparents are Phillip and Carrie Kincaid of Blackey, and Billie Miller, also of Blackey. They said he has lots of black hair and is adorable.

Jimmy Bates, the state commander from Whitesburg VFW Post 5829; Carlos Pugh, the state senior vice commander from Frankfort, and James Curry of Harlan, went to Washington recently. They got to see President Bush along with other officials. They stayed about three days.

Opal Jent of Carcassonne, has been in the hospital. I’m not sure exactly why, but was told she was on fluids and antibiotics and may now be home.

Mae Fugate of Carcassonne, and some other family members left to go to Florida over the weekend. They were going to attend the memorial service for Mae’s brother, Gene Francis, who recently died.

Lenore Dixon of Blackey, and her two sisters went to Gatlinburg a couple of weekends ago. They had a good trip. I bet it was hard for Lenore to leave her new grandbaby, Kylie.
