Hello everyone, hope you are doing well and keeping cool in this hot weather. I’ve been staying in. The only times I’ve been going out is to church and I’ve been to three funerals.
Our sympathy goes out to all the families, especially Tonda (Conn) Moran, wife of Dwight Morgan of Hyden. They had six children, and it was the biggest funeral anyone had ever seen. Over 4,000 people were there. They were well-loved people.
She was the daughter of Bro. Billy Conn and wife Belinda. They were a good, Christian family, and their church really stood by them.
I’ve always loved all the Conn family, especially my pastor, Bro. John Conn, brother of Bro. Billy Conn and also Bro. Arnold Conn. They are a real close family.
My pastor, Bro. John Conn’s wife, Alicia, had knee surgery on Friday and is having some pain.
I went to the funeral of Bro. Ozel Collins on Friday. He was 95 years old and an old hunting buddy of my late husband, Clyde. It was good seeing a lot of friends I hadn’t seen in a long time, Rose Breeding and her sisters, and their nephew, Gary Joe Bennett. He’s my buddy and I love to hear him sing. He sang at the funeral; I asked him to.
It was good seeing Tammy Hogg. I hadn’t seen her in a while. I got to sit with her and Rose Breeding.
Yesterday was my granddaughter, Wendy Hatton Day’s birthday. Late happy birthday, Wendy! She is my first grandchild. She’s special to me. All my grandchildren and great-grandchildren are special.
I went to a birthday party for my granddaughter, Ellie Mullins, daughter of Angie Hatton Mullins and Rich Mullins.
We have a lot of birthdays in my family.
My brother Jack Howard and wife Donna have had their daughter Crystal and her family in for a visit. I think they live in Oklahoma. I’m sure they’ve enjoyed them. They don’t get to come often.
The Shepherd family had a family reunion last Saturday at Cowan Community Center. I don’t know how many were there, but I’m sure they enjoyed themselves. So many of their family have passed away, and some have sickness in their family and couldn’t make it.
We still have folks who need prayer, Sonia Fields, Dorthy Miles, Steve Taylor, Carfa and Shirley Niece.
I just heard that Kendall Hicks’s wife had died in Ohio. Our sympathy goes out to the family. Kendall is a son of the late Irene and Arthur Hicks, some of our Marlowe people.
Elzie Ray Hatton, I won’t forget your birthday. It’s Aug. 9, the same as my son, Bill.
May God bless all of you, try to be in church somewhere this week.
