Sheriff’s Department seizes $180,000 in crystal meth

Webb says value is highest in memory


    The Letcher County Sheriff’s Department on Monday charged a Mayking man with trafficking in crystal methamphetamines worth an estimated $180,000 on the street.

    Sheriff Danny Webb said he could not recall drugs worth that much ever being found in the county, or the immediate area around it. Letcher County deputies were assisted in serving the search warrant by the Pike County Sheriff’s Department and its K-9, Copper.

    Danny Robert “Danny Bob” Collins of Bottom Fork is accused of possessing nearly 4 pounds of crystal meth, 10 grams of brown heroin and more than $5,000 cash, plus several firearms.

    Collins’s daughter, Samantha Danielle Collins, was also arrested for being a fugitive from another state.
