Shoebox collection to start

First Baptist Church of Whitesburg will begin collecting gift-filled shoeboxes on Nov. 16 to distribute to needy children worldwide through Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan’s Purse.

The church will serve as the southeast Kentucky/ southwest Virginia collection site for Operation Christmas Child.

Fill a shoebox with toiletries, small toys and candy.

Boxes can be dropped off at First Baptist Church of Whitesburg until Nov. 23.
